We hosted an afternoon tea baby shower for SIL4 & BIL4 who are expecting their first child in the spring. We couldn’t be happier for them!
As always, when I plan a party I get too frazzled and forget all about taking pictures but I managed just a few. SIL1 made beautiful mini red velvet cupcakes, cherry cheesecake, and chocolate dipped strawberries. SIL2 made delicious sandwiches cut out into heart shapes: cucumber with cream cheese, egg salad, smoked salmon and curried chicken. I, still jet lagged from our trip, managed to bake some scones this morning but also made use of some handy frozen hors d’oeuvre from Target. MIL prepared gifts for everyone from Big Island Candies. (D, as usual was my hero as he worked behind the scenes to set everything up and did all of the cleanup!)
The daddy-to-be is D’s younger brother, the baby of four siblings and the last of the bunch to become a parent. The shower was as intimate as can be: four siblings (& spouses) who are very close, and the mother who raised them all. They reminisced about their childhood and shared heartfelt parenting advice. The mommy and daddy-to-be live in New York but I’m so glad we were able to get together and send them off with our love and well wishes.
