Down to Earth Kapolei

Nomz and I have lunch dates here at least once a week. When you have a little one you start to choose places to eat based on a whole new vetting process. Down to Earth is my absolute favorite in Kapolei for so many reasons:

Food: yummy and healthy. Lots of choices for little kids, like mashed avocado and cottage cheese when Nomz just started eating solids, to pasta dishes that she likes now and organic veggies. Priced per pound which means I only have to pay a dollar or two for Nomz’s plate. It’s totally vegetarian, but you don’t even miss the meat.

Comfortable seating: sometimes we choose to eat inside in A/C when it’s hot but most times we sit outside where she can make a mess and then be entertained watching the birds clean it up. Highchairs available, or sometimes I pull the stroller right up to the table.

Clean restrooms located a short walk away (by Genki Sushi); family restroom available.

Location: After lunch I find myself browsing Ross or running errands at Bank of Hawaii or Target located in the same complex.

An added bonus: free wifi!

The hot and cold deli bar @ $9.59/lb. Cold side consists of full salad bar and many of their signature salads like Rainbow Kale Salad, Mock Chicken Salad, Quinoa Salad and so much more. Hot selections usually include rices, veggies, beans, fragrant curries, pastas. On the end are soup selections. Hot and cold items are the same price, so it’s okay to mix them on the same plate.

Bakery corner includes hot pizzas, brownies, muffins, cookies, etc.

Newly added is a noodle bar where you choose your veggies and noodles and have it stir fried with seasoning of choice.

Right next to the deli are a wide variety of chilled health conscious drinks.

And a made to order smoothie/juice bar with acai bowls too!

A refrigerated case holds ready-made wraps and sandwiches if you’re in a hurry, along with delicious cakes and desserts. Mango cheesecake = to die for (just read the ingredients and you know you’re eating the real stuff.)

Because of its proximity to Campbell Industrial park, we always see big burly construction worker and truck driver type guys coming in for their lunch, despite the meatless offerings. Trust me, it’s that good!
