Dinner For One

On nights when hubby comes home late, I don’t have to worry about what to make for dinner. Tonight I settled on a simple bowl of udon for myself.

A must-have condiment for udon is yuzu kosho, a wonderfully aromatic paste made out of yuzu citrus and chili peppers. Since it’s hard to get my hands on fresh yuzu, this is the next best thing. My auntie brought me this jar from her hometown and the birthplace of yuzu kosho,  Fukuoka.

    おー、うどんにも柚子胡椒ですか。うちではお刺身を食べる時わさびのかわりに柚子胡椒を使うのが最近の食べ方になってきましたよ。あと、豚汁にはこれがないと始まらないって感じだし鍋物の時にもいいね。お役に立っているようで嬉しいなぁ。
