Dinner was an intimate gathering of just hubby’s family, except we were missing his brother (BIL4) and SIL4 who spent the holiday in LA. Intimate for this family is still 11 people. The nephews were so happy to be together they kept laughing nonstop the whole night. It’s like they were drunk off their POG (passion orange guava juice) – so funny.
Woohoo! Turkey time. Sister-in-law #2 roasted a 20 pound turkey to perfection and prepared a cornbread pecan stuffing with rosemary gravy. I think the skin is my favorite part of the turkey.
Sister-in-law #1 brought potato salad and glazed ham and of course her signature sushi rolls. Thanksgiving is not complete without her sushi.
My yams, out of the oven. This was the first time making yams from fresh yams but it was super easy and came out delicious.
And the pumpkin crunch cake – actually, it did have a layer of pumpkin custard on the bottom. The verdict? A fun and easy recipe, but too rich and sweet for me.
I wish I could eat thanksgiving meals more than once a year, but given how labor intensive it is, it’s not likely. Well, so long until next year … I’ll miss you …
