Back at Marketplace Cafe

Yesterday was kind of a busy day with plans in the early morning, lunch and dinner. For lunch I caught up with some friends/former coworkers at Marketplace Cafe at Nordstrom. I somehow became a repeater here although I can’t quite put my finger on why. The food is good but nothing wow and the prices are not bad but also not cheap. I think it’s a combination of the location, nice ambience and quite frankly, the lack of similar options at the same price point in Ala Moana.  Everyone seems to agree because there’s usually a line out the door at peak times.

I usually get the Lime Cilantro Chicken Salad ($11.25). Anything with cilantro works for me.

One of the specials of the day: Garlic Chicken ($12.95) with sautéed veggies served over rice.

Pepperoni and Wild Mushroom Pizza ($11.75) – the pizzas here are good and they’re freshly baked to order.

Cranberry Turkey Sandwich ($10.75) served with potato chips.

We ended up moving the party over to eBar for some cappuccinos and continued conversation.  It’s amazing how much there is to talk about for 4 people who no longer work in the same workplace or even industries for that matter. But this common workplace that we once shared and the colorful characters that we know make for some interesting topics.

Oh man! I wanna try that garlic chicken! Wonder how often they change their specials? It looks good!

I don’t know how often they change it, but probably not too often, right? It did look good. I know you’re a connoisseur of garlic chicken, but how much better can it be from a regular ol’ plate lunch place, especially at $12.95?

Good point. I doubt it’s THAT much better than any other place…and for that price, it’s probably not worth it…But I have to (and want to) at least TRY it. 😉
