Wai’olu at Trump Hotel Waikiki

Recently I headed to Wai’olu at the Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach Walk for a casual business lunch . I had walked through the beautiful hotel previously but never had the chance to dine there and the menu online didn’t seem too outrageous so it was decided.

Wai’olu is located on the 6th floor (I think) of the hotel where the front desk and lobby are. Once you valet park your car, the elevator will take you straight to the lobby floor. The open air restaurant is so pretty with dark wood furniture, sexy lounge seating, and sweeping views of West Waikiki. I love lounge seating but it’s not too practical when eating a meal so we opted to sit at a regular table. Plus, the sun hits the lounge area directly in the afternoon so it can get hot. If you want to relax on the lounge sofas, it’s probably best to go for breakfast or cocktails in the evening.

Look at the presentation of this freshly brewed iced tea – it was so cute!

We shared a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken ($18.00) so the portion photographed is actually half. The croutons were interesting; they’re fried eggplant instead of regular croutons but I think I prefer regular croutons.

Wai'olu - Caesar Salad with Chicken ($18.00)

Italian Sandwich ($19.00) with Parma ham, sopressata, and roasted red peppers.

Wai'olu - Italian Sandwich ($19.00)

My Grilled Veggie Wrap ($16.00) in a whole wheat tortilla. I like this olive relish/salad like thing that comes with the wraps.

Their offering of salads and sandwiches are pretty standard but everything is well presented. I should mention they also offer a Tempura & Sashimi Bento ($25.00) and Wafu Steak & Sashimi Bento ($25.00) if you’re looking for something more substantial. I would recommend Wai’olu for business meetings/entertaining and other occasions where relaxing ambience and polished hospitality are the priority (over, say, the extensiveness of the menu).
