Taro’s Menu Highlights – Hiyashi Ramen

It is the middle of summer here in Australia, which means it’s HOT. Even coming from Hawaii, I feel the heat. On a hot Brisbane day, the best thing to have at Taro’s is the Hiyashi Ramen ($14.80).

Taro's - Hiyashi Ramen ($14.80)

A refreshing dish of cold noodles in a chilled seafood based broth topped  with fresh salad and finished with sesame-based aromatic oil and some floating ice cubes. This dish is not to be confused with the more well-known  dish Hiyashi Chuka (see a previous post). Hiyashi Ramen is truly what the name says: a cold ramen with a full bowl of soup, and the flavor is not sweet and sour.

As I type this post I’m headed out the door to the airport to board my flight back to Hawaii (via Sydney). It’s been an exciting month in Australia, and Taro’s Ramen is off to a great start, thanks to Taro’s loyal supporters, hard-working opening staff, and ramen lovers who saw the press articles and ads. We already have many regular customers!

As I bid Taro’s the best of luck, I’m also excited to go home and spend time with my husband and get back to some good Honolulu eats!
